My name is Gabriela and I've been going to NY Strong for about 4 months now and all I have to say is I am addicted!
In 2014, like many people, I was focused on everything else in my life except my body. I gained about 25lbs in 2 years and was feeling sick both physically and emotionally. I would make excuses and tell myself I was “too busy” and I can’t “make time” for the gym after my 10-12 hour work days. I was always “tired”, always “complaining”, always feeling guilty about my eating habits and the lack of exercise I did. I had finally had enough after I attended my best friend’s wedding in late December 2014 (which was a destination wedding in Cancun – just think bathing suits in front of family and friends!). I looked at myself in the mirror and said “this isn’t you, you’re better than this – you need to make a change.” That day I decided that I was finally going to stop making excuses and VALUE MYSELF and MY BODY.
I few weeks later I met Todd and the NY Strong gym which was honestly a bit intimidating at first with the 500lbs+ tires and the weight racks in full display as soon as you walk in. But immediately, I knew that this was the place for me. Todd (my nutritional coach) and Steve (my fitness trainer) both hold me accountable which is something I and many people struggle with working out on their own. They encourage you and guide you every step of the way (literally). Consistency and accountability are the major pillars of any weight loss journey and the trainers at NY Strong are really here for you, both in and out of the gym.
The reality is that exercise and weight loss is way more than just looking good. I now feel better about myself, I have more energy and for once in a long time I am comfortable in my own skin. I lost 10lbs of fat and gained 2lbs of muscle mass which has literally molded my body. I can finally say I have my curves back! Not only that but I am so much STRONGER; it is so exciting when you start pushing through heavier weight with ease. I look forward for training and love it when I am pushing the same weight as the guys!
These are the results I was looking for early this year and even though I still have a long way to go, I seriously couldn’t have done it without the help and support of Todd and the NY Strong team. You guys are seriously the best in the business and the hard work and dedication you give to your clients really show. Thank you for making me feel like I am a part of your family and for being there and sticking by me when even I didn’t want to be!
